Thorium is cheap to mine, cheap to convert to fuel and there is no need for reprocessing. The amount and half life of waste is a fraction of uranium. These are all the places where profit is earned and LFTRs change all that.

Power generation itself is not a profit center in the industry. There is plenty for companies in the nuclear power industry not to like here.

Comment on How Tiny Lab-Grown Human Brains Are Giving Big Insights Into Autism by genidma http://singularityhub.com/2015/07/26/how-tiny-lab-grown-human-brains-are-giving-big-insights-into-autism/#comment-119816 Sat, 08 Aug 2015 17:00:51 +0000 http://singularityhub.com/?p=84301#comment-119816 Organoids in the lab, not being able to form blood vessels, was something I was thinking about.

There has to be a way to work on newer models that help in getting around this problem. As in, a distributed cluster of cells spread out over a region vs the layers and how they form in the brain.

Also, in a near future state neurosynaptic chips (IBM) hold a lot of promise. I barely know enough about them, in order to be able to comment whether they can serve as an optimal replacement for organoids. But from what I gather, it seems like the kind of tech that can help build computer that model the human brain.

Imagine being a unimaginably experienced and competent warrior without risk to life and limb, and without harming anyone!!

He seems to have said much the same thing decades ago with the only difference I can see being that of a matter of degree to which the unconscious directs things.

I’m not opposed to this, if a person shows themselves to be a threat to others, they should be removed from society. However, this is also why I’m opposed to the Drug War. Does anyone speak of rehabilitation anymore?

And not just for 3d printing. Some day I hope you will be able to buy something of the kind and print precision parts. It will change everything.
