Comment on Desert of the Real by Rhodri Thomas http://www.doorsofperception.com/art-perception/desert-of-the-real/#comment-368746 Wed, 03 Sep 2014 08:54:58 +0000 http://www.doorsofperception.com/?p=5142#comment-368746 Thank you John

A great read. I found it particularly relevant to the work of Emergence – you may recall that in 2010 we asked you to come and speak at the inaugral conference. The initiative has evolved since then:
http://www.emergence-uk.org

I will share this article with the Emergence partners – for example Paul Allen at the Centre For Alternative Technology. I also find the following paragraphs eminently quotable and they lend themselves to helping me promote my solo stage performance “Who’s Afraid?” which addresses existential angst as an urban disease;

“Reconnecting with nature is not about leaving home to live in a yurt. For most of us, it means adapting in the places where we live now – re-imagining the urban landscape as a living ecology with the potential to support us.

Re-wilding, in this sense, is not about looking. It’s about reconnecting in practise – working with the plants, animals, and ecosystems that occur naturally in our cities and bioregions.”

here. In my work I try to embody a connection with nature and present natural systems as an operating model to emulate.
The concept that grabbed me most strongly is the difference between systems thinking and systems feeling.
Experiencing natural systems gives me feelings of connectedness I can never get by just thinking.
I have chosen to live and work in close contact to nature not only because I want to communicate but because I need to feel the
connection with nature to keep me on track.

I work in nature because we are nature.

Thanks John for reminding us all where we belong.

How exactly do people die from putting on socks? and how does cellophane injure a person?
