U.S. watch sales fell 14% in June, the most in seven years, in what may be the first sign that Apple is eroding demand for traditional timepieces, reports Bloomberg.

Retailers sold $375 million of watches during the month, 11 percent less than in June 2014, according to data from NPD Group. The 14 percent decline in unit sales was the largest since 2008, according to Fred Levin, head of the market researcher’s luxury division.

“The Apple Watch is going to gain a significant amount of penetration,” he said Thursday in a phone interview. “The first couple of years will be difficult for watches in fashion categories.”

Foxconn has signed a deal with India's Maharashtra state to invest $ billion over five years on a new electronics manufacturing facility, reports Re/code.

The announcement was made by Foxconn founder Terry Gou and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis after the signing of an accord in the state capital Mumbai. The Foxconn announcement will bolster Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” campaign, which aims to turn Asia’s third-largest economy into a manufacturing powerhouse.

Gou didn't say whether the company would make mobile phones at the facility; however, a recent Reuters report claimed that facility would be used for iPhone assembly.

The European Commission has been unable to find evidence that Apple colluded with music labels to end free music streaming services, reports Re/code.

Investigators examined whether the labels conspired with one another or with Apple on Apple’s new streaming music service in a way that would hurt rivals. The probe failed to turn up any illegal activity, though the EU will continue to monitor the market, sources said.

EU regulators sent questionnaires to major labels before the launch of Apple Music, asking for details about their licensing discussions with Apple. They were concerned that Apple and music industry executives were attempting to stifle free services from Spotify and others.

Apple is planning to hold its iPhone 6s event on September 9th, unveiling a new Apple TV as its 'ne more thing', reports John Paczkowski for BuzzFeed.

Sources familiar with Apple’s plans tell BuzzFeed News the company intends to hold a special event the week of Sept. 7, with Wednesday the 9th being the most likely date. Sept. 9 is the same day on which Apple held this event last year.

The event will be focused on the new iPhone which is said to feature a new Force Touch display, an improved camera, and faster and more power-efficient wireless chip. Apple may also debut new iPads; however, the much rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro is apparently still a wildcard.

Despite reports that parts for the iPhone 6s are already being mass produced, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that mass production of the device is delayed 1-2 weeks.

GforGames relays a Chinese report from UDN:

Kuo states that the new line-up’s mass production has been delayed by about 1-2 weeks, until late August. Furthermore, according to the Taiwanese Media, Apple lowered its iPhone 6 orders in to make room for manufacturing the iPhone 6s series.

Apple spends nearly $700,000/year on CEO Tim Cook's security, according to a disclosure from the company's Schedule 14A filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Patently Apple spotted the following paragraph in the report:

"This amount represents: (i) the Company's contributions to Mr. Cook's account under its 401(k) plan in the amount of $15,600; (ii) Company-paid term life insurance premiums in the amount of $2,520; (iii) vacation cash-out in the amount of $56,923; and (iv) security expenses in the amount of $699,133."

Universal Pictures has posted a new TV trailer for its upcoming Steve Jobs movie.

Steve Jobs is directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle and written by Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin, working from Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of the Apple founder. The producers are Mark Gordon, Guymon Casady of Film 360, Scott Rudin and Academy Award winner Christian Colson.

Michael Fassbender plays Steve Jobs, the pioneering founder of Apple, with Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet starring as Joanna Hoffman, former marketing chief of Macintosh. Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple, is played by Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels stars as former Apple CEO John Sculley. The film also stars Katherine Waterston as Chrisann Brennan, Jobs’ ex-girlfriend, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Andy Hertzfeld, one of the original members of the Apple Macintosh development team.

Apple has revamped its website merging its Online Store into the various product pages on its main site.

You can no longer visit the store directly by navigating to store.apple.com. To purchase a device you must visit its main product page. Likewise, to purchase an accessory you need to visit the product page relating to the accessory you are looking to buy.

We’ve learned that he left to take up a job in Apple’s PR office in Toronto, Canada. Microsoft has released a preview of Windows Bridge for iOS, a series of technologies that enables developers to easily port their existing iOS, Web and desktop code to the Windows Store.

Today, we’re releasing an early look at the Windows Bridge for iOS (previously known as ‘Project Islandwood’). While the final release will happen later this fall (allowing the bridge to take advantage of new tooling capabilities that will ship with the upcoming Visual Studio 2015 Update), we are making the bridge available to the open-source community now in its current state. Between now and the fall, we’d love more eyes, feedback, and participation on the code, so we’re doing our development “in the open.”

The iOS bridge is being released as an open-source project under the MIT license. It's still a work in progress and some of the features demonstrated in the past are not ready yet.

Apple Music head Jimmy Iovine talks about new streaming service, Taylor Swift's letter, the hiring of Zane Lowe, and more in an interview with the Evening Standard.

After Swift posted an open letter to Apple expressing concern over artists not getting paid during the three month free trial period, Iovine got a call from SVP Eddy Cue.

“Eddy [Cue, Apple senior VP] woke up on Sunday morning,” says Iovine. “He called me and said, ‘This is a drag’. I was like, ‘Yeah, maybe there’s some stuff she doesn’t understand’. He said, ‘Why don’t you give Scott [Borchetta, Swift’s label boss] a call? I called Scott, I called Eddy back, Eddy and Tim [Cook, Apple CEO] called me back and we said, ‘Hey, you know what, we want this system to be right and we want artists to be comfortable, let’s do it’.”

Apple has announced that 11 million users have signed up for the free trial of Apple Music. The company revealed the number to USA Today.

"We're thrilled with the numbers so far," says Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet software and services, adding that of that sum 2 million have opted for the more lucrative family plan at $14.99 a month for up to six people.

Apple Music launched with a three month free trial on June 30th and will cost $9.99/month once the trial period is over.

Apple has released an update to TestFlight bringing support for watchOS 2 apps, App Thinning, improved notifications, and more.

The TestFlight app allows you to install and beta test apps on your iOS device. After a developer invites you to beta test their app, you can install new versions as they become available. TestFlight also allows you to provide valuable feedback to developers on the features you are testing in the prerelease apps you’ve been invited to.

To start testing:
• All an app developer needs is your email address to send you an invitation
• Accept the invitation and install the prerelease build of the app
• The TestFlight app will notify you when new prerelease builds are available
