The problem is simple. The "news" reporters have completely abandoned the Investigative aspect of their job (undoubtedly under the carefully worded instruction of their editors and bureau chiefs). So what they become are mere mouth pieces of the powers they have come to serve, and the news is no longer anything more than propaganda. As long as people know that, less harm is done. But knowing it doesn't alter the fact that the lights went out and we have no news, only the appearance of news. And the constant drum beat that we're too stupid to know the difference or care. Yet even this "news" is a well crafted piece of propaganda designed to keep us isolated, insecure and vulnerable. As usual in the twilight age.
