Esri acquired GeoIQ and GeoCommons in 2012 to combine our vision of communities collaborating with web-based open data tools. Since then users have continued to use GeoCommons to share and collaborate with open data while the capabilities were integrated into ArcGIS Open Data, a new part of ArcGIS Online. People can freely continue to visualize, analyze and share geospatial information, access developer APIs and as always, download data in multiple open formats.

Watching the GeoCommons community grow over the past 8 years has been a wonderful experience and we are appreciative of everyone that has participated. We look forward to you joining the community with the rest of the millions of ArcGIS scientists, students, government, businesses, and citizens around the world.

GeoCommons public data will continue to be available for download. If you have any questions, please send an email to us at GeoCommons@esri.com

Sincerely,
the GeoCommons and ArcGIS Open Data teams.
